The Supreme Court (SC) has halted the scheduled October 13 parliamentary elections in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), as it declared unconstitutional Bangsamoro Autonomy Act No. 77, which redistricts the seven parliamentary seats assigned to the province of Sulu.
In a press briefing on Wednesday, SC spokesperson Camille Sue Mae Ting said: “Bangsamoro Autonomy Act No.77 is declared unconstitutional and the injunction against it is made permanent.”
Ting also told reporters that the Bangsamoro Transition Authority needs to pass a law for the conduct of the parliamentary election by October 30, 2025.
