THE Supreme Court on Monday invited members of the judiciary to participate in a survey on the 2019 Amendments to the Revised Rules on Evidence.
The advisory was issued by the SC’s subcommittee for the revision of the Rules of Evidence for members of the Judiciary and the Bar who have studied and applied the 2019 Rules in practice.
“The Supreme Court is calling on the members of the Judiciary and the Bar, including justices, lawyers, law professors and other legal professionals to participate in a survey on the 2019 Amendments to the Revised Rules on Evidence. We want your thoughts on the 2019 Revised Rules on Evidence,” the SC said, adding that participation in the survey is voluntary.
The 2019 rules, which took effect in 2020, in turn amended the 1989 Revised Rules on Evidence.
The 2019 amendments, according to then SC Associate Justice and now Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo, are “designed to benefit the public since they address head-on the twin problems of docket congestion and delays.”
