A Saudia Airlines flight with 263 passengers on board bound for Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, diverted back to Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) due to a weather radar malfunction.
The Saudia Airlines Boeing 787-10 aircraft (SV-871) took off at the NAIA international runway at 11:52 p.m. last Wednesday.
At 12:51 a.m., the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) Operations Center received a report from the Manila Area Control Center indicating that Flight SV 871 was returning to Manila, and the aircraft landed safely at NAIA at 1:25 a.m.
All passengers disembarked and were brought to the NAIA terminal while airline staff assisted them.
The aircraft is currently parked at NAIA Terminal 1’s remote parking area.
As per Saudia Airlines, they provided hotel accommodation and meals to all passengers.
CAAP spokesman Eric Apolonio said that CAAP is closely coordinating with the airline and concerned aviation authorities to ensure public safety and to maintain operational readiness at all times.
