President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. named Associate Justice Geraldine Faith Econg as the new Presiding Judge of the Sandiganbayan, Malacañang said late on Wednesday night.
Econg succeeded Amparo Cabotaje-Tang who retired in November 2024.
Econg, who was appointed associate justice of the Sandiganbayan in 2016, held various judicial positions, including presiding judge of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 9 in Cebu City from 2004 to 2010. She then served as administrator of the Judicial Reform Program of the Program Management Office of the Supreme Court of the from 2010 to 2015 and headed the Office of the Philippine Judicial Academy from 2015 to 2016.
She earned her law degree from the University of San Carlos.
