THE San Juan government was lauded for the strict enforcement of its ordinance regulating the sale, use, distribution, and advertisement of cigarettes and tobacco-related products within city limits.
Mayor Francis Zamora said the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) acknowledged their enforcement of City Ordinance no. 14 Series of 2024 or the Comprehensive Smoke-Free and Vape-Free Ordinance of San Juan City.
Under the ordinance, it is prohibited to smoke, whether cigarettes, tobacco, or vapes, in public places.
The San Juan Smoke-Free Task Force, which closely monitors public spaces against smokers, enforces the ordinance.
Violators will pay a fine from P2,000 to P5,000.
