LT. Gen. Robert Rodriguez had been designated as the officer-in-charge of the office of PNP deputy chief for operations, the third highest post in the police force.
PNP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo announced the appointment of Rodriguez and several other officials during a press briefing at Camp Crame yesterday.
Rodriquez succeeded Lt. Gen. John Michael Dubria, who reached the retirement age of 56 last December 20.
Rodriguez, a member of the Philippine Military Academy class 1991, served as the director of the Area Police Command (APC)-Visayas before his new designation.
Before assuming command as the APC-Visayas director in January last year, Rodriguez served as the PNP director for personnel and records management.
The PNP has yet to announce a replacement for Rodriguez as APC-Visayas commander.
Fajardo said PNP Aviation Security Group (AVSEG) director Brig. Gen. Christopher Abrahano was designated as the officer in charge of the Caraga police regional office, replacing now-retired Brig. Gen. Alan Nazarro.
Brig. Gen. Christopher Abecia, Calabarzon police regional police director for administration, was named as OIC of AVSEG, vice Abrahano.
Brig. Gen. Ramil Montilla, deputy director of police-community relations, was designated as the chief of the PNP Headquarters Support Service, vice now-retired Brig. Gen. Radel Ramos.
The other officials who received new assignments were Brig. Gen. Roy Parena, deputy director of police-community relations; Brig. Gen. Dionisio Bartolome, deputy director of Central Visayas police regional office; Brig. Gen. Jericho Baldeo, OIC of the directorate for information and communications technology management; and Col. Mariano Rodriguez, deputy director for administration of the Davao police regional office.
