A driver of a ride-hailing application was arrested by operatives of the National Bureau of Investigation for allegedly robbing and raping his female passenger in Paranaque City last5 June 15.

The suspect, identified as Michael Lou Reuyan, was presented to the media yesterday after he was arrested in Cainta, Rizal.

NBI spokesperson Ferdinand Lavin said Reuyan picked up his victim in Paranaque at around 3 a.m. on June 15.

Lavin said that while aboard the vehicle, the victim fell asleep and was awakened to find that the vehicle had come to a full stop.

“Subject Reuyan was already on top of her and she felt something being inserted into her genitals. The victim cried and pleaded for the Subject Reuyan to stop, but notwithstanding her plea, Subject continued and even punched her in her abdomen when she resisted,” Lavin said, citing the complaint filed last June 16.

He said the victim was able to escape and seek help when Reuyan moved in front of the car to get something.

Reuyan later snatched the victim’s bag containing an iPhone 16 and other personal belongings and forcibly took away her necklace valued at P35,000.

After receiving the complaint, NBI agents conducted an operation where they were able to locate the operator-owner of the vehicle driven by Reuyan.

Lavin said the operator accompanied the NBI-NCR agents to the known address of Reuyan in Cainta.

“After hours of surveillance, the NBI agents spotted Subject Reuyan riding an electric bike. At that point, the apprehending team immediately chased the Subject and placed him under arrest,” Lavin added.
