SEN. Joseph Victor Ejercito yesterday questioned the appointment of Gabriel Go as the head of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority’s (MMDA) New Task Force Special Operations Unit.
Ejercito said Go was the subject of a sexual harassment complaint by a lady traffic enforcer, which led to his resignation in 2023.
In a Facebook post, Ejercito said that Go seems so influential that the MMDA hired him anew to take on the post vacated by Edison Nebrija in November 2023.
“My question to MMDA Chairman Romando Artes: What is the status of the case and why was Go hired back despite the case filed against him?” Ejercito said.
The lady traffic enforcer claimed she filed a case against Go before the MMDA, but it was not acted upon until she was booted out of her job due to an administrative case filed against her when Go returned to the MMDA.
“Napakalakas naman yata ni Gabriel Go sa inyo, Chairman Artes, at pinalamig lang ang isyu ng sexual harassment para kunin muli siya sa MMDA? Kaya naman pala kung umasta ay napakasiga (It looks like Gabriel Go has strong influence on you, Chairman Artes, that you just let the issue of sexual harassment die down a bit so that the MMDA can re-appoint him? No wonder Go is acting that way),” he added.
Ejercito also said viral videos were posted on social media sites showing Go berating several motorists who were apprehended for traffic violations.
“I just talked to MMDA Chairman Atty. Don Artes, who has committed to taking disciplinary action against SCOG (Special Clearing Operations Group) head Gabriel Go. We need to discipline our officers and make sure they do not go overboard next time,” Ejercito added.
