POLICE investigators have filed murder charges against a police officer and his policewoman-wife over the recent killing and mutilation of another cop.

The case was filed by the Taguig City police station over the weekend, PNP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo said in a press briefing at Camp Crame.

The suspects, a lieutenant colonel and an executive master sergeant, are under the custody of the Taguig City police.

The victim, also an executive master sergeant, was reported missing on November 28.

The officer and his wife were considered persons of interest after investigators learned the victim was having a love affair with the officer’s wife.

During the investigation, the officer admitted to killing the victim last November 28 at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City and chopped his body, using a hacksaw with the assistance of his wife.

The mutilated remains of the victim were later brought and buried at the ancestral home of the officer in Baguio City.

“The Taguig City police station filed the murder case over the weekend in connection with the killing of the policeman…The investigation is continuing though we already filed a case before the prosecutor’s office (of Taguig),” said Fajardo.

Fajardo said the officer caught the victim and his wife in a “very intimate situation that led to the death of the policeman.”

“Killing somebody out of anger is one thing but to mutilate and dismember and then try to hide the body, traveling from Taguig to Baguio, that’s another story,” said Fajardo.

Fajardo could not immediately say if the victim was shot before he was mutilated.

“We cannot confirm yet as to the injuries sustained by the victim before he was dismembered by the suspect. We have to wait for the result of the autopsy,” said Fajardo.

Fajardo said police probers are conducting further investigation to identify other people who may be involved in the killing of the policeman.

“If there are, they will be held accountable,” said Fajardo.
