MORE than halfway through the random manual audit (RMA), the tally of the automated counting machines (ACMs) of the votes cast in the May 12 polls are proving to be highly accurate, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said yesterday.

“So far, so good. We are getting 99.996 percent accuracy rate from the machines,” Elections chairman George Garcia said in a radio interview.

Garcia said 407 out of the 762 clustered precincts have been audited as of June 1.

The poll chief said they are looking at June 28 for the completion of the RMA, which started last May 14.

“Hopefully, the high accuracy rate will be sustained,” said Garcia.

The poll automation law mandates the manual checking of precinct vote count results generated by automated counting machines that were used in the elections.

Back in the May 2022 polls, the vote counting machines (VCMs) was found to be 99.95 percent accurate in reading the official ballots.
