KINGDOM of Jesus Christ (KOJC) leader Apollo Quiboloy was transferred yesterday to the Pasig city jail, more than two months after he was arrested on charges of human trafficking and child abuse.
PNP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Fajardo said Quiboloy was transferred from the Philippine Heart Center (PHC) in Quezon City where he was confined since last Saturday due to infected dental implant.
Quiboloy’s confinement to the hospital, until today, was approved by the Pasig City regional court.
Fajardo said the Pasig court issued an order yesterday directing the PNP to transfer Quiboloy to the Pasig jail.
Quiboloy is under PNP custody and has been detained at the PNP Custodial Center at Camp Crame since his arrest last September 8 at the KOJC compound in Davao City.
Also arrested in the operation were his four co-acccused. The four, along with another accused who earlier surrendered, were brought to the Pasig City about two months ago.
Quiboloy has asked the court to allow him to be placed under house or hospital arrest due to medical reasons, but his motion was denied. About two weeks ago, he was brought to the PHC to undergo medical check-up after he complained of difficulty in breathing.
“The security convoy carrying Apollo Quiboloy left the Philippine Heart Center (at 4:23 p.m) in compliance to the court order to transfer PUPC (Persons under PNP Custody) Quiboloy at the Pasig City Jail Male Dormitory,” said Fajardo.
Fajardo said the PNP officially turned over the custody of Quiboloy to the Pasig city jail at 5:05 p.m.
Bureau of Jail Management and Penology spokesman Superintendent Jayrex Bustinera said Quboloy is confined at a holding area, which is housing some 10 other newly-committed inmates.
Bustinera said Quiboloy will be undergoing medical and physical assessment while inside the holding area.
Asked until when Quiboloy will remain at the holding area, Bustinera said: “The quarantine, based on the protocol of the BJMP, is not more than two weeks.”
Within the two-week period, BJMP doctors will check his medical and physical conditions and determine if he has communicable disease, said Bustinera.
If Quiboloy passes these tests, he will be moved to the “general population” and join other inmates.
