KINGDOM of Jesus Christ leader Pastor Apollo Quiboloy was rushed a couple of weeks ago to a hospital after complaining of difficulty in breathing, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) said yesterday.
BJMP spokesman Supt. Jayrex Bustinera said Quiboloy, who was later diagnosed with pneumonia, was still confined at the hospital as of yesterday and was recuperating.
“The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology confirms that PDL (person deprived of liberty) Apollo C. Quiboloy was rushed to a public hospital on 11 September 2025 due to difficulty in breathing,” said Bustinera.
“He was later diagnosed with Community Acquired Pneumonia (moderate risk),” added Bustinera.
Bustinera said the Pasig City Regional Trial Court Branch 159 was notified of the development.
He said the court issued an order authorizing the hospitalization on September 15.
“As of 30 September 2025, he is stable and recovering in a public hospital, in line with BJMP policies on medical care for PDL,” said Bustinera.
Bustinera said Quiboloy is being guarded by BJMP personnel while at the hospital.
He said there was still no word from the hospital on when Quiboloy would be discharged.
“We are just waiting for the clearance for his discharge. He will be brought back to the Pasig City Jail,” said Bustinera.
Bustinera declined to name the hospital where Quiboloy is confined for “privacy and security” concerns.
“This is the second time he was hospitalized for pneumonia. (His) last hospitalization was January 12, 2025,” said Bustinera.
Quiboloy was arrested in September last year on charges of child abuse and human trafficking. He was initially detained at Camp Crame and later transferred to the Pasig City Jail.
