KINGDOM of Jesus Christ leader Apollo Quiboloy is confined at a private hospital in Pasig City and is being treated for community-acquired pneumonia, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) said yesterday.

BJMP spokesman Superintendent Jayrex Bustinera said Quiboloy, who is detained at the Pasig City Jail on charges of human trafficking and child abuse, was brought to the Rizal Medical Center (RMC) last Saturday after he complained of difficulty in breathing.

“The BJMP physician recommended that the PDL (person deprived of liberty) be brought to the nearby government hospital for appropriate medical intervention,” Bustinera said.

“The attending physician at the RMC recommended hospital confinement with a diagnosis of community-acquired pneumonia,” he said.

Bustinera said the RMC also recommended that Quiboloy be transferred to another hospital “due to insufficient facilities” at the hospital.

He said Quiboloy was transferred to a private hospital in Pasig City on Saturday night. He declined to name the hospital for security reasons.

Bustinera said Quiboloy remains to be under BJMP custody and “strict security is in place while (he is) in hospital confinement.”

Bustinera said the pastor was brought to the hospital without court approval because “the protocol is, it’s an emergency case, a court order is not needed…then we inform the court.”

He said the court has been notified of Quiboloy’s hospitalization last Monday.
