TROPICAL depression “Querubin” yesterday weakened into a low pressure area (LPA) afternoon but will continue to bring rains to some parts of the country, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
In a bulletin issued at 5 p.m. yesterday, PAGASA said the LPA was some 280 km east of Surigao City in Surigao del Norte as of 4 p.m., and was moving northward at 20 kph.
The LPA will traverse Mindanao, Sulu Sea and Palawan until Sunday.
“A possible re-development into a tropical depression may occur once this LPA reaches the West Philippine Sea,” PAGASA also said.
PAGASA said the LPA and the shear line will bring heavy to intense rains in several areas in the eastern section of southern Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao.
Before weakening into an LPA, Surigao del Sur was placed under tropical cyclone warning Signal No. 1. All warning signals have been lifted.
