PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has promoted five senior military officials to the next higher rank, including the commander of the Presidential Security Command (PSC).
The PSC commander, Brig. Gen. Peter Burgonio, was promoted to the rank of major general.
AFP Civil Relations Service commander Brig. Gen. Oliver Maquilong and AFP Chief Engineer Brig. Gen. Jonjie Juguilon were also promoted to the rank of major general.
Also promoted was Col. Gilbert Roy Ruiz, the deputy chief of the Intelligence Service of the AFP; and Navy Captain Luidegar Casis, chief of the AFP Pension and Gratuity Management Center (PGMC)
Ruiz and Casis were promoted to the rank of brigadier general and commodore, respectively.
AFP chief Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. presided over the donning of ranks ceremony for the five at Camp Aguinaldo yesterday.
“This event reflects the AFP’s continued commitment to strengthening its leadership and enhancing its role in securing the nation’s defense,” said AFP public affairs chief Col. Xerxes Trinidad.
Four of the five occupied their posts only recently.
Burgonio assumed command as PSC chief last March 5. The PSC is in charge of the security of the President and members of his family.
Maquiling and Casis took over as CRS commander and PGMC chief, respectively, last March 31, while Juguilon assumed command as the AFP Chief Engineer last March 26.
