POLICE operatives dismantled a den being used in the mass production of fake government identification cards in Valenzuela City last Tuesday afternoon, it was reported yesterday.

The operation also resulted in the arrest of alias Chippie, 44 and his wife, alias Kaye, 40, who were reportedly running the illegal activity, the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) said in a statement.

ACG operatives, in coordination with the Valenzuela City police station, raided the den by virtue of a warrant to search, seize and examine computer data.

The operation was the result of a series of entrapment operations that the ACG conducted, which resulted in the arrest of several individuals selling fake government IDs online.

The suspects arrested in the previous operations claimed they were merely resellers.

Through investigation and surveillance, the ACG managed to trace the source of the falsified government IDs.

It dispatched a poseur buyer who offered to resell the fake government IDs the couple were producing.

After a series of engagements and test buys that confirmed the couple’s illegal activity, the ACG secured the warrant, which was subsequently implemented at the couple’s residence.

“The raid resulted in the discovery of a large-scale forgery operation, the seizure of a total of 391 counterfeit government IDs, equipment, and other paraphernalia used for the production, and the arrest of the couple behind the scheme,” the ACG said.
