SEN. Grace Poe has endorsed the candidacy of former senator Paolo Benigno “Bam” Aquino, as she vouched that the independent senatorial candidate will champion the welfare of the Filipino people and advance meaningful reforms for the country’s progress.
“Hindi po ako magre-rekomenda kung hindi ako naniniwala na makakatulong ito. Kailangan natin ng mga masisipag sa Senado (I will not recommend someone who cannot help us. We need hardworking people in the Senate),” Poe said as she joined Aquino onstage during the grand rally of the FPJ Panday Bayanihan party-list group in San Carlos City, Pangasinan on Sunday.
Poe said she has seen how Aquino worked as a senator.
“Kailangan natin ng mga talagang magta-trabaho at ito’y ginagarantiya ko na si senato Bam, kahit ‘yung ating politika ay magkaka-iba, pare-pareho ang gusto natin na maging maayos ang ating bansa. Huwag nating kalilimutan, number 5
(We need someone who will help our advocacies, and I guarantee that senator Bam will help us. Although we have different political parties, I believe that we all want a progressive country. Let us not forget, number 5 (in the ballot),” she said.
Poe thanked Aquino for shepherding the passage of the Free College Education law and for helping fulfill her campaign promise to provide free and nutritious meals to malnourished young learners.
Aquino was the principal sponsor of these laws during his tenure as chairman of the Senate Committee on Education.
“Iyong libreng pananghalian sa public elementary schools, lalong lalo na sa mga batang kulang sa nutrisyon, siya rin ang tumulong sa akin para maipasa ‘yan (Senator Bam helped me in pushing for the passage of the measure which provides free lunch in elementary schools to benefit malnourished children),” Poe added.
