AS part of its efforts to crack down on kidnapping and other heinous crimes, the PNP is set to establish “help desks” in Filipino-Chinese communities.

In a briefing at Malacanang, Director for Police Community Relations Maj. Gen.  Roderick Augustus Alba said the PNP and the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce of and Industries Inc. (FFCCCII) forged an agreement last April 11 to establish “PNP Chinese-Filipino Community Help Desks (PCFC)” in Filipino-Chinese communities in Binondo, Manila; Cebu, Davao, and Iloilo.

He said the pilot run of the PCFC would also include an area in Central Luzon, and, if successful, would be expanded to other parts of the country.

“The FFCCCII, with its 170 chambers from Aparri to Jolo, offered their help in sustaining peace and order,” Alba said, describing the PCFC as a dedicated channel for reporting and coordination, particularly in high-risk areas.

“This isn’t just about enforcement—it’s about engagement… By working hand in hand with our communities, especially those most at risk, we can build more proactive and sustainable solutions to protect lives and livelihoods,” he added.

Alba’s remarks came on the heels of the call of the Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC) for the government to revisit its anti-kidnapping strategy amid the resurgence of kidnapping in the country, which the anti-crime group warned could affect the economy.

Alba said the PNP acknowledged the information from VACC, adding that the police force is focused on its continuous law enforcement operations and anti-criminality operations.

He said a Special Investigation Task Group has been assigned to oversee the kidnapping incidents in the country, even as the police also focus on security aspects during the Lenten season and the ongoing campaign and election period.

He said the PNP is also restructuring its anti-kidnapping group to strengthen the campaign and curb kidnapping incidents in the country.

The Filipino-Chinese community reported that around 12 kidnappings, mostly involving Chinese, had occurred this year, the most recent involving businessman Anson Que, who was later found dead with his driver in Rizal.
