THE PNP yesterday announced a P2 million reward for information that would lead to the arrest of the gunmen behind last Friday’s ambush in San Rafael, Bulacan that left three people dead, including a consultant of Bulacan Rep. Lorna Silverio.
PNP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo said a special investigation task group had been formed and is looking into what she described as an “unacceptable” attack.
“We’re looking at some angles but we cannot give specific details so as not to compromise or preempt the ongoing investigation,” said Fajardo.
The attack resulted in the death of Bryan Villaflor, an employee of the municipal office of San Ildefonso, Bulacan who also works as an information technology consultant for Silverio.
Also killed were Silverio’s girlfriend and their bodyguard.
The victims were on board a sports utility vehicle (SUV) when they were attacked by unidentified suspects on board two other SUVs in Barangay Capihan last Friday.
When pressed, Fajardo said there is a possibility this is a “politically-motivated” incident, noting that Villaflor is a consultant of Silverio.
“That is one of the angles we are looking into,” said Fajardo.
Fajardo urged people who have information about the suspects to come forward and help the PNP bring justice to the three fatalities.
Fajardo said the PNP has coordinated with the family of the victims to gather “additional information” on the incident.
“We also would like to announce that we are offering a P2 million reward to anyone who can provide information (that will lead to the arrest of) those involved in the unacceptable incident in San Rafael, Bulacan,” said Fajardo.
She said the PNP is discussing whether to recommend San Rafael as an area of concern in connection with the national and local elections in May.
