Philippine National Police Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) director PCol. Hansel Marantan on Sunday said anti-corruption demonstrations across the country have remained peaceful, with no major incidents reported as of late morning.

Speaking to reporters at the People Power Monument on EDSA, Marantan said based on initial assessments covering the whole nation, the protests have been orderly.

“So far, there is no significant untoward incident. I hope we will maintain it that way,” he said.

Marantan cited police drone footage estimating that around 3,000 protesters had gathered at the monument as of 10 a.m.

He said the PNP is following the directive of acting PNP chief PGen. Melencio Nartatez Jr. to observe maximum tolerance toward the demonstrators.
