THE Philippine Consulate in Los Angeles, California yesterday urged Filipinos in areas affected by the growing wildfire in Franklin, Malibu in Los Angeles to evacuate to safer grounds.

The wildfire continues to expand and local authorities said nearly 13,000 residents are being told to under evacuate.

“Evacuation orders and warnings have been issued by the Los Angeles County authorities, and residents are urged to stay clear of the area as the fire continues to pose a significant threat,” the consulate says.

“Filipinos in the affected and nearby areas are strongly encouraged to monitor fire developments, take safety precautions, and heed local warnings,” it added.

The consulate said the wildfire has already scorched over 2,713 acres, with over 1,500 fire fighters working to contain the blaze.

It said Filipinos needing assistance should call 911 or contact the Los Angeles County Fire Department Public Information Office at (323) 881-2411.

The consulate did not say how many Filipinos are living in areas in the path of the wildfire.
