WITH the Outpatient Emergency Care Benefit (OECB) package now in effect, the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) yesterday reminded hospitals and healthcare facilities that their existing accreditation will suffice.
In a statement, PhilHealth said hospitals don’t need to have a separate accreditation to provide the OECB package to the agency’s members and dependents.
“Hospitals are reminded that they do not need separate accreditation to provide facility-based emergency benefits as it is already included in their accreditation as hospitals,” said PhilHealth.
It, however, noted that there is an additional requirement for establishments that have extension facilities.
“Those with extension facilities must submit to their respective PhilHealth regional offices a certification stating the name of the affiliated extension facility and its complete address,” said PhilHealth.
Starting on February 14, all outpatient emergency cases in accredited levels 1 to 3 hospitals may avail of the OECB.
This means that all case rates of PhilHealth done at the Emergency Department of the hospitals will be covered by the state-run health insurer.
