THE Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) said it has settled P117.6 billion in medical claims to both government and private health facilities, from January to September this year.
“This is P25.4 billion or 27 percent higher compared to same period in 2023,” said PhilHealth in a social media post.
The higher amount of claims payment this year follows an increase in all PhilHealth case rates packages by 30 percent in February.
Significant increases in medical coverage were also put in place for hemorrhagic and ischemic stroke, bronchial asthma, neonatal sepsis, breast cancer, and pneumonia.
“With these improved benefits, Filipinos no longer need to resort to loans or pawn their properties. PhilHealth will cover a substantial portion of their medical costs,” said PhilHealth president Emmanuel Ledesma in a previous statement.
