PUBLIC Employment Service Offices (PESOs) are proving to be effective avenues to find employment opportunities and get hired.
This as the PESOs have shown to have high placement rates for job applicants at over 90 percent, according to the Bureau of Local Employment (BLE).
“Since 2024, we have had 2.8 million employment referrals and the placement rate reached 94 percent,” said BLE Director Patrick Patriwirawan in a televised public briefing.
“There are a total of 2.6 million job applicants who have successfully found jobs (through the PESOs),” he added.
According to the labor official, a total of 5.7 million job vacancies have been solicited by PESOs from employers in less than two years.
In contrast, Patriwirawan said some 3 million job applicants have been registered with PESOs nationwide.
The PESO is an employment service facility established in all key towns and cities, maintained by local government units, and linked with the Department of Labor and Employment.
The facility seeks to provide a venue where people could explore various employment options, serve as a referral and information center for the various services and programs of DOLE, and provide the public with adequate information on employment and labor market situation in the area.
BLE data shows that there are currently 1,592 PESOs established nationwide.
Of the total, Patriwirawan said there are 794 PESOs that are institutionalized or those with plantilla positions, regular budget, and physical offices.
