PRESIDENT Marcos Jr. yesterday urged Filipinos to include being more disciplined, striving for excellence, and strengthening one’s love for the country in their New Year’s resolutions.
The President, in his first vlog for 2025, said that by improving oneself, one also contributes to improving and developing the country.
Marcos said being disciplined, for instance, can be shown in setting up a personal health and fitness goal, choosing the appropriate food to eat, handling finances, when not engaging in rumors, displaying one’s behavior on the streets including in driving, and in handling garbage.
The President said personally, he would strive to be healthier as he still has a lot of work to do, things to accomplish and being absent from work is not acceptable.
“The new Filipino is self-disciplined. Disciplined in their homes. Disciplined in the streets. And my New Year’s resolution is to be more disciplined. I will take care of my health. Because with the many things I am doing, I cannot be sick,” he said.
Marcos also urged Filipinos to promote and pursue the Filipino culture of excellence in everything they do.
He said Filipinos should change their mindset from mediocrity to excellence.
“We should bear in mind that just being okay is not alright. That should be the mindset of the excellent new Filipinos,” he said.
He said Filipinos should strive to be better and support those who are doing good and striving to do better.
“Let us recognize and show the world the excellent Filipinos,” the President said.
Marcos said that as the world advances, Filipinos should also improve their knowledge and usage of technology so the country could be on par with the rest of the world. Instead of being intimidated by new technologies, Filipinos should learn and adapt.
The President also asked Filipinos to sustain and deepen their love for the country.
He said there should be a renewed sense of patriotism among Filipinos who should always include strengthening patriotism in their New Year’s resolution.
Marcos said there are many ways to express patriotism from helping out the communities, barangays, schools and homes to showing love and dedication for one’s job or livelihood.
He said cooperating with and supporting the government’s projects is also another way.
“New ways of thinking and behaving that Filipinos confronted with challenges of modern times should foster. The new Filipino is disciplined, excellent, and most of all, loves the country! Loves his fellow Filipino!” he added.
