A male passenger carrying about P1,200,000 and $580 in undeclared cash was intercepted at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) terminal 3 as he was about to depart for Hong Kong early morning of June 25.
The undeclared bundles of cash were discovered inside the luggage of the passenger during routine security screening at the final check of the airport.
The passenger was apprehended by airport authorities and PNP Avsegroup personnel during standard screening procedures.
The passenger and the intercepted currency are now in the custody of the Bureau of Customs (BOC) for serial number identification and further investigation.
“This accomplishment highlights the importance of inter-agency coordination among airport authorities at our largest international airport, where various violations may occur and must be held accountable,” said Brig. Gen. Jason Capoy, Avsegroup acting director.
