MAYOR Vico Sotto yesterday said the Pasig City government will look into companies not paying their taxes, which he said has reached billions of pesos.
“Alam nyo naman siguro kung sino ang yumayaman dahil sa ganong klaseng kalakaran. ‘Yung maraming kumpanya na santo, alam naman po natin,” Sotto said in his speech while not identifying anyone in particular.
Sotto said the cause of flooding in the city was certain agencies using substandard materials for flood and drainage projects, or nothing at all.
“’Yung nakikita po nating pagbaha, malaking bahagi nila dito. Hindi lang sa Pasig, hindi lang sa NCR [National Capital Region], kundi sa buong Pilipinas,” Sotto said.
He also ordered the city administrator to investigate individuals allegedly involved in illegal activities and those who fail to pay taxes. Sotto added that the city will also review whether Pasig-based companies are paying proper taxes to the Bureau of Internal Revenue.
