Pasig Mayor: Be cautious about fake news

PASIG City Mayor Vico Sotto yesterday said he will talk with people spreading misinformation about the salary of job order (JO) employees on social media and urged everyone to be cautious about “fake news.”

Sotto revealed that some of the city government’s JO employees had taken to social media to air their frustrations about either receiving a low wage or not being included among those promoted.

“If you are called to my office, it’s not to be reprimanded. I will also ask where these are coming from. Again, not to reprimand but to clarify and explain the truth,” he said.

He also urged managers to explain and correct any misinformation about salaries and bonuses.

Sotto pointed out that the city increased the wages of JO workers three times last year, although their salaries are still lower than permanent employees.

He added that the city government will continue the regularization of JO and casual employees. The Pasig government has more than 10,000 employees. Over half of them gained permanent status in 2024.
