POLICE operatives arrested Mayor Enrique Roque of Pandi town in Bulacan along with two others last Tuesday afternoon for two counts of rape.

“This operation is a strong reminder that no one is above the law,” National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) director Brig. Gen. Anthony Aberin said.

Roque, Pandi councilor JonJon Roxas and town employee Roel Raymundo were arrested by NCRPO personnel at 1 p.m. at the Amana Waterpark in Pandi.

They were arrested by warrants issued by a Caloocan City court. They are currently under the custody of the Northern Police District (NPD).

“Our assurance is that NCRPO will pursue justice without fear or favor, ensuring accountability for everyone,” said Aberin.

The NPD said the operation was conducted in coordination with the PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Northern District Forensic Unit.

The court did not set bail for the accused, who the NPD described as “high-profile individuals” facing rape charges.

“Notably, no bail has been recommended for the accused, who will now face due legal proceedings,” the NPD said in a statement.

NPD director Col. Joselifino Ligan said: “This operation demonstrates the commitment of the Northern Police District to uphold justice, regardless of who is involved.

“We will continue to pursue our mandate to ensure the safety of our communities and hold accountable those who violate the law. Let this serve as a strong message that justice will be served and the rule of law will always prevail,” said Ligan
