MALACANANG appreciates the continuing support of the public and its positive reception of the efforts being exerted by President Marcos Jr. and his administration in providing the primary needs of the people and in addressing different issues and concerns of the public, vowing to further enhance the delivery of services to the Filipinos.

“As always, we are grateful for the people’s support, as reflected in surveys that have consistently placed us in overwhelmingly positive territory. We are particularly thankful for the encouraging results regarding our response to calamities and disasters, our delivery of basic education, and our efforts to uplift the poor and provide jobs to all workers,” Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin yesterday said.

Bersamin, however, said that polls are mostly a weathervane for public opinion and only reflect the public’s support for the policies of the government and not their impact and effectiveness.

“In that sense, the truest measure of public service is whether we improve our people’s lives. This remains the primary standard by which we measure our work.  Having said that, we value these periodic mood meter readings as feedback tools that allow us to further enhance our service delivery,” he added.

The December 12 to 18 survey of the Social Weather Station (SWS) showed that 59 percent or majority of adult Filipinos were satisfied with the administration’s performance in the last quarter of 2024 while 23 percent were dissatisfied, and 17 percent were undecided which resulted in a “good” +36 net satisfaction rating.

The administration also received “very good” ratings in the areas of helping victims of disaster (+65), improving the quality of children’s education (+60), assisting the poor (+57), job creation policies (+51), and developing science and technology (+51).

It also scored a “good” net satisfaction rating on implementing housing programs for the poor (+49), ensuring food security (+46), maintaining an efficient public transportation system (+45), disaster preparedness for typhoons (+44), addressing climate change (+38), telling the truth to the people (+34), and defending Philippine sovereignty in the West Philippine Sea (+32).

The administration also received a “moderate” rating for ensuring no family goes hungry (+26); a “neutral” rating on fighting crimes that victimize ordinary citizens, like killings, holdups, robberies, physical violence, etc. at +4; ensuring that oil companies do not take advantage of oil prices at a “neutral” -2; and eradicating graft and corruption at -3; and a “poor” net satisfaction rating in fighting inflation at -12.
