MALACANANG yesterday said the next Ombudsman should be sensible, brave and fair.

Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said these are the traits that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is looking for, not just in the next Ombudsman, but in all public servants.

The President has not received any shortlist yet and just like what I said, a public servant, not just the Ombudsman, should be sensible, brave, and fair),” she said.

Those are just a few of the primary traits that a public servant, not just the Ombudsman, but all public servants should have),” she added.

Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla had previously said that he would apply for the position that would soon be vacated by Ombudsman Samuel Martires, who is set to retire on July 27.

The Judicial and Bar Council has set the deadline for submission of application for Ombudsman last July 4.
