OPERATIVES of the PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) seized P93 million worth of counterfeit Crocs footwear in San Simon, Pampanga last week.
The items were confiscated in three simultaneous raids conducted at three warehouses at the Global Aseana Business Park 1 and Golden Sun 999 in San Simon last Wednesday.
In a statement, the CIDG said the raids were conducted on the strength of search warrants for violation of the Republic Act RA 8293 or the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines.
The CIDG said P36.79 million worth of Crocs footwear were seized at the first warehouse while P27.72 million and P28.51 million worth of similar footwear were seized at the second and third warehouses, respectively.
“The team also confiscated the raw materials in manufacturing and reproducing the alleged counterfeited footwear,” the CIDG said.
CIDG director Maj. Gen. Nicolas Torre III commended the operatives involved in the successful operations.
“With the confiscation of these alleged trademark infringing footwear, we significantly protected the exclusive rights of scientists, inventors, artists and other gifted citizens to their intellectual property and creations; and we also prevented unfair competition,” said Torre.
Torre said the CIDG is “unyielding in its fight against counterfeited products and steadfast in enforcing the law and making the violators accountable.”
“We urge the public to report all illegal activities and unfair trade practices and CIDG will do the rest,” added Torre.
