P74.8M shabu seized in Caloocan; 2 men nabbed

OPERATIVES of the PNP Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG) seized 11 kilos of shabu worth P74.8 million in an anti-drug operation in Caloocan City on Sunday night.

Two drug dealers, who were described by PDEG as “high-value individuals” in the continuing war against illegal drugs, were arrested.

PDEG identified the suspects by their aliases as Johary, 26; and Ambulo, 25, who are facing charges for selling and possessing illegal drugs under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The suspects were arrested by PDEG operatives in coordination with other police units at around 8:15 p.m. in Barangay Amparo.

PDEG officer-in-charge Col. Roland Cuya Jr commended all the police personnel for the “excellent work.”

“May this success motivate even greater accomplishments in the battle against illegal drugs. Stay alert and continue making a positive impact,” Cuya said.

Police operatives uprooted 76,000 fully-grown marijuana plants, worth P15.2 million, in Tinglayan, Kalinga, PDEG also reported yesterday.

No cultivator was arrested during the operation, PDEG said.

Policemen from PDEG and other PNP units swooped down on a marijuana plantation with an estimated land area of 7,600 square meters in Barangay Butbut Proper last Saturday.

The lawmen uprooted and burned the marijuana plants, PDEG added.

Col. Felipe Maraggun, Rizal PPO director, identified the suspect as alias Claudio, a legal age.

Seized from him were nine sachets containing more or less 40 grams of suspected shabu. – Christian Oineza
