OPERATIVES of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) seized 4,491 ecstasy tablets worth P7.6 million at the Port of Clark in Pampanga last Wednesday noon, it was reported yesterday.

The illegal drugs arrived at the port last March 29 from Belgium, PDEA said in a statement.

The PDEA International Cooperation and Foreign Affairs Service received information about the smuggling of illegal drugs, leading to the interdiction operation.

It said the operation was conducted in collaboration with the National Bureau of Investigation and PNP Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG).

“The said information was relayed by PDEA Intelligence Service to PDEA Regional Office 3, which led to the successful interdiction operation”, PDEA said, quoting a PDEA team leader.

The operating team confirmed the presence of ecstasy tablets in the package.

In Davao City, PDEG operatives arrested a “high-value individual” in the war against illegal drugs during a buy-bust operation in Barangay 31-D last Monday.

The suspect, identified only as Buyaks, 39, yielded 10 grams of shabu worth P68,000.

Commending the personnel involved in the successful operation, PDEG officer-in-charge Col. Rolando Cuya Jr. said: “Your unwavering dedication and commitment to the fight against illegal drugs have once again led to a significant achievement.”

“This successful operation is a testament to your hard work, strategic enforcement, and relentless pursuit of justice,” added Cuya.

In Cavite, PDEA operatives arrested a drug dealer in Dasmarinas City last Tuesday.

PDEA said the suspect, identified only as alias Sian, 30, was arrested during a buy-bust operation at 6:25 p.m.

Seized from the suspect was 1.5 kilos of shabu worth P10.2 million, a cellular phone, and the buy-bust money.

Authorities discovered abandoned parcels containing 5.7 kilos of high-grade marijuana worth P8.55 million abandoned at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Central Mail Exchange Center in Pasay City at 2:30 p.m. last Wednesday.

PDEA said the abandoned parcels were declared as Rice TH, pillows, dried fruits, tea and toys.

“The shipper and receiver involved are subject to investigation and filing of appropriate charges in violation of RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002),” PDEA said.
