Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon said that the extension of LRT-1 will soon have an additional station that is out of the original plan, allocating P3 billion for the project.
Speaking on the sidelines of the Economic Journalists Association of the Philippines (EJAP) Infrastructure Forum on Monday, Dizon said the government is looking at adding a Talaba Station for the extension project that as of November last year has already added five stations to the original line ending in Baclaran. This brings the total number of stations from 20-29 covering several major cities including Quezon CIty, Caloocan, Manila, Pasay and Paranaque, all the way to Bacoor, Cavite.
The five new stations added in November are part of the larger LRT-1 Cavite Extension project, which aims to significantly expand the reach of the railway system and improve connectivity for commuters. The extension is expected to handle upto 800,000 passengers per day.
The new stations are Redemptorist-Aseana, MIA Road, PITX, Ninoy Aquino Avenue, and Dr. Santos, formerly Sucat.
