POLICE operatives seized 24 kilos of high-grade marijuana worth P39 million in Balagtas, Bulacan, the Central Luzon regional police office reported yesterday.
A housewife went to the Balagtas police station last Wednesday to report that his brother received a package from a delivery firm. The package was supposedly sent by one Paul from Toronto, Canada.
The package, police said, was addressed to the housewife’s husband, who is detained for a drug-related offense.
Police said the housewife reported the matter to the police because they have no relatives in Canada and feared the package was related to the case his husband was facing.
Policemen inspected the package and found they contained 52 sealed plastic bags with 26 kilos of kush or high-grade marijuana.
Police are now determining the people behind the drug shipment.
Central Luzon police director Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan commended the Balagtas police station for swiftly responding to the information provided by the housewife.
Maranan said the seizure of the illegal drugs is another proof of the PNP’s determination to end the drug problem in the region.
“We are enhancing our coordination with the community to end all activities related to illegal drugs,” said Maranan.
“This accomplishment is not only an accomplishment of the PNP but also of the community in the fight against all crimes,” said Maranan.
