OPERATIVES of the PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) seized 175 gallons of adulterated cooking oil valued at P3.5 million in a raid on a warehouse in Santiago City in Isabela last week, the CIDG reported last Monday night.

Aside from the recycled and adulterated unlabeled cooking oil, also seized in the operation in the company warehouse in Barangay Buenavista, Santiago, Isabela, were mounted storage, a digital weighing scale, a funnel, a closed van, and a 10-wheeler truck with markings NB Cooking Oil.

The CIDG also arrested suspects identified only as Bonaleth, owner and manager of the NBI Cooking Oil Trading; and Catherine and John, a cashier and delivery worker of the same firm.

Personnel from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) North Luzon Cluster accompanied the arresting team from CIDG Regional Field Unit 2.

“Those arrested were caught in the act of selling, manufacturing, distributing and offering for sale the suspected recycled, unlabeled, unregistered and adulterated cooking oil products,” the CIDG said.

The FDA North Luzon Cluster padlocked the warehouse due to non-compliance with the FDA laws and regulations.

CIDG Director Maj. Gen. Nicolas Torre said the CIDG is unrelenting in its efforts to enforce the laws designed to protect consumers.

“The sale of unregistered, misbranded, or unsafe food products poses serious health risks and violates regulations,” said Torre.
