OPERATIVES of the PNP and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) seized P21 million worth of shabu and marijuana while two suspected drug dealers were arrested in separate operations in Makati City and Benguet.
The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) identified the suspects as alias “Wewel” and alias “Madam” and said they are “notorious drug personalities.”
The two were nabbed by NCRPO and PDEA operatives last Wednesday afternoon at a condominium in Barangay San Antonio, Makati City, in a buy-bust operation.
Seized from them were 1.3 kilos of shabu worth P8.8 million, a mobile phone, a shoe bag, an eco-bag, P1,000 in cash, and 499 pieces of P1,000 in boodle money.
In Benguet, PDEA operatives raided four marijuana plantations in Sitio Dalipey, Barangay Tacadang in Kibungan town from Monday to Thursday.
PDEA said 34,000 fully grown marijuana plants were uprooted and 45 kilos of dried marijuana leaves, with a total value of P12.2 million, were seized and subsequently burned.
“No cultivators were arrested during the eradication,” PDEA said in a statement.
“This high-impact anti-drug operation carefully initiated by Makati CPS (city police station) police officers hits the core of the illegal drug supply in Makati and neighboring areas,” said NCRPO Director Brig. Gen. Anthony Aberin.
“I commend the operatives for this operational milestone and let us continue to work closely with the community in our comprehensive, aggressive and procedure-based campaign against illegal drugs,” added Aberin.
The suspects are facing charges of possession and sale of illegal drugs under Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Makati police chief Col. Jean Dela Torre said the buy-bust operation was held after surveillance and stakeout based on information provided by other residents in the building.
This success proves that even those who attempt to hide their illegal activities in high-rise buildings are not beyond the reach of the law,” Dela Torre said.
Police nabbed two men for possession of P154,564 worth of suspected dangerous drugs and gun ban violation in Binangonan, Rizal last Wednesday morning.
The suspects were identified as alias Errol and Vemar.
Recovered from them were several sachets containing more or less 22.73 grams of suspected shabu and a .38 revolver. – With Ashzel Hachero and Christian Oineza
