RESIDENTS of coastal barangays have recovered three packs of shabu floating off the waters of Ilocos Norte, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency reported yesterday.
PDEA chief Isagani Nerez said fisherfolks found the shabu with a street value of more than P20 million at the shorelines of Pangil, Currimao; La Paz in Laoag City; and Masintoc in Paoay last June 12 and 13.
He said the packs have Chinese markings.
The illegal drugs were surrendered to the PDEA regional office and the Philippine Coast Guard.
He said the PDEA, with the help of other law enforcement agencies, is continuously scouring the seawaters in the area for more possible shabu packs.
It can be recalled that fisherfolks of Zambales, Batan in Ilocos Sur, and Pangasinan also fished out 66 sacks of shabu weighing a total of 1,297.9 kilograms worth P8.8 billion last June 10.
Police seized P312,800 worth of suspected dangerous drugs and arrested a jobless man in a buy-bust operation in Antipolo City last Friday night.
