A P200,000 reward has been offered for information that would lead to the arrest of one of the suspects in the killing of two Bulacan policemen during an operation against gunrunners last Saturday.
PNP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo announced this as the police force vowed that justice will be served over the killing of Staff Sergeants Dennis Cudiamat and Gian George Dela Cruz, both assigned with the Bocaue municipal police station.
The lawmen were dispatched to conduct a buy-bust operation against two suspects in Sitio Tugatog, NIA Road in Barangay Tambubong, Bocaue, Bulacan.
Reports said the suspects sensed they were dealing with undercover policemen, leading to a shootout that led to the death of Cudiamat and Dela Cruz.
One of the suspects, identified only as alias Dado, was arrested during a follow-up operation in Pandi, Bulacan.
In a press briefing at Camp Crame, Fajardo said the second suspect, alias Xander, a brother of the arrested suspect, remains at large.
“We (PNP) are offering a reward of P100,000 to anyone who can provide information on the whereabouts of alias Xander so we can arrest him as soon as possible,” said Fajardo.
After the press briefing, Fajardo announced that another P100,000 reward had been offered by the local government unit of Bocaue.
“The reward is now P200,000. The LGU of Bocaue has offered a P100,000 reward as per PD (provincial director) Bulacan,” said Fajardo.
Fajardo said they had received intelligence information that Xander had left Bulacan.
“Our manhunt operation against him is ongoing,” said Fajardo, referring to Xander.
In a statement, the PNP paid tribute to Cudiamat and Dela Cruz.
“Their bravery and dedication to upholding the rule of law embody the highest ideals of police service. Their loss is deeply felt, not only by their families and colleagues but by the entire PNP organization and the communities they served,” the PNP said.
The PNP extended its condolences to the bereaved families of the two lawmen.
“We assure the families of our fallen heroes that justice will be served,” the PNP said.
It said a “full investigation” is underway and an “extensive hot pursuit operation” is underway against the suspect at large behind the “heinous crime.”
“We will not rest until the perpetrators are held accountable,” the PNP said.
It urged the public to provide information that would help authorities arrest the at-large suspect.
“The PNP remains steadfast in its mission to uphold the law, safeguard our communities, and protect those who serve with integrity and honor,” it said.
