PHILIPPINE Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) operatives seized 29 kilos of shabu worth P197.2 million in Parañaque City last Saturday afternoon, the agency reported yesterday.

Seized from them were 29 aluminum foil packs labeled “Freeze-dried Durian” with Chinese characters, each containing shabu.

“The total weight of the seized drugs is estimated at 29 kilograms, with a standard drug price of P197,200,000,” PDEA said.

Also seized from the suspects were mobile phones, the buy-bust money, and a pink paper bag used in the transaction.

PDEA operatives discovered an abandoned shabu laboratory in Antipolo City, Rizal last Friday night, the agency also reported yesterday.

The laboratory was inside a house at Village East Executive Homes, Barangay Munting Dilaw.

Seized in the house were laboratory apparatus and equipment, freezers, drums and sacks containing liquid and powdery substances, and plastic sachets with traces of white crystalline substances suspected to be shabu.

The owners and operators of the laboratory have yet to be arrested but have been identified.

“It is only a matter of time before they are caught by the long arm of the law. They may have left the place in haste upon knowing that authorities are hot on their trail,” said PDEA Director General Isagani Nerez.

PDEA said it conducted the operation in coordination with the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency and with anti-drug units of the PNP.
