P179M shabu seized in Cebu City, Iligan; 4 suspects nabbed

AUTHORITIES seized 26.4 kilos of shabu worth P179.52 million in separate operations in Cebu City and Iligan City, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) reported.

The operations also led to the arrest of four suspects who are facing charges for violation of Section 5 (Sale, Trading, Administration, Dispensation, Delivery, Distribution and Transportation of Dangerous Drugs and/or Controlled Precursors and Essential Chemicals), Article II of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

PDEA named two of the suspects as alias Edward, 41; and his 63-year-old mother, alias Edna.

Edward and Edna were arrested by PDEA, PNP, Coast Guard, and Bureau of Customs personnel at around 7:30 a.m. yesterday at Pier 5 in Barangay Carreta, Cebu City.

The two, who traveled from Masbate to Cebu City through a RORO (roll-on/ roll-off) vessel, were arrested after authorities found 25 kilos of shabu worth P170 million in their car during a route narcotic K-9 inspection, PDEA said.

Their car was also seized, along with two identification cards, and three smartphones.

In Iligan City, PDEA operatives arrested two alleged drug dealers after selling 1.4 kilos of shabu worth P9.52 million last Wednesday.

The suspects were Raisah Amer, 59, and one alias Bappa who sustained injuries during the operation.

The two were nabbed during a buy-bust operation along Tibanga Highway, Barangay San Miguel at around 12:30 p.m., PDEA said.

Apart from the 1.4 kilos of shabu, also seized from the two were a black shoulder bag, an opened green tea foil pack labeled “Guanyinwang” with Chinese characters, a black J&T plastic pouch, a brown paper bag, a Toyota Fortuner with key, and the marked buy-bust money.

PDEA said the operation was coordinated with the PNP.

Police nabbed a construction worker tagged as the No. 1 most wanted person for illegal drugs in Antipolo City last Wednesday afternoon.

Col. Felipe Maraggun, Rizal Provincial Police Office (PPO) director, identified the suspect as alias Jhaps, 28. He was apprehended by police in Barangay Cupang, Antipolo City at around 4 p.m. The suspect is now detained at the Morong Custodial Facility, facing several charges. – With Christian Oineza
