MALACANANG yesterday said Deputy Administrator for Overseas Workers Welfare Administration and Fund Management Emma Sinclair has been dismissed from her post over an alleged P1.4 billion anomalous land deal.

Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said Sinclair and former OWWA administrator Arnell Ignacio were removed from their positions and not asked to resign because of the anomalous land deal.

Castro said their dismissal serves as a warning to those in government to do their jobs and not engage in corruption.

“This is a sign, we can say a call by the President to all those working under his administration to do their jobs and not engage in any fraud or trickery. You will all be fired if you do not fulfill your obligations to the country,” she said.

OWWA employees filed a complaint against Ignacio and Sinclair over the P1.4-billion land deal intended for a “halfway house” accommodation for overseas Filipinos.

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said the deal is still under investigation.
