WORK at the Office of the Vice President was disrupted last Monday afternoon after one of its employees received a bomb threat, which prompted the evacuation of all of the OVP’s personnel.
“The Office of the Vice President (OVP) informs the public of a sudden disruption of its operations on Monday afternoon following a bomb threat,” the OVP said in a statement last Monday night.
Vice President Sara Duterte is currently in The Hague in the Netherlands to form the defense team of her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, who is being tried by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for crimes against humanity.
The statement said the OVP personnel were evacuated to an area of the Robinsons Cybergate Plaza in Mandaluyong City immediately after one of the staff members reported receiving the bomb threat through a text message.
It said the Mandaluyong City Police quickly dispatched an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team to conduct a thorough search. Since no explosive devices were found, the OVP was able to resume operations at 4 p.m.
“Bomb threats are a serious matter concerning public security and safety. The public is reminded that hoax bomb threats can endanger lives and are punishable by law under Presidential Decree No. 1727, also known as the Anti-Bomb Joke Law,” the OVP said.
