MORE than 4,000 employment opportunities will be available in the special job fair that the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) will hold today for displaced Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) workers in Laguna.

In a phone interview, Labor Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma said the event will be participated in by 60 local employers with 4,383 job offerings.

The special POGO job fair will be held at the Activity Center of the Ayala Pavilion Mall in Biñan City.

Among the top job vacancies to be offered are production operators, cashier, salesclerk, warehouse crew, and transporters.

The DOLE encouraged displaced and would be displaced workers in the offshore gaming industry to participate in the one-day event.

“You could be one of those that will be hired on the spot (HOTS),” it said.

It reminded those who will participate in the event to wear a business casual attire and reminded that the wearing of slippers, open-toed sandals, sleeveless, and shorts will not be entertained.

DOLE also advised applicants to bring their updated resume, ballpen, valid IDs, and their pre-employment application requirements.

The DOLE has been organizing a series of job fairs in a bid to assist displaced workers in finding new jobs following the ban on all POGOs in the country.

In recent months, special POGO job fairs were also held in the cities of Parañaque, Pasay, and Makati.
