JUST over two months before the deadline, only 4.5 percent of the hospitals and health facilities expected to refile their denied claims due to late submission have submitted them to the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth).
Data provided by PhilHealth showed that only 312 hospitals and health facilities have submitted papers for reimbursement of denied claims.
This is way below the 7,015 total number of hospitals and health facilities, which are expected to file for reimbursement of denied claims.
Broken down into areas, only 78 out of the 1,597 hospitals in North Luzon have refiled their claims.
In Metro Manila and South Luzon, merely 34 out of the 2,454 health facilities have submitted their denied claims.
A total of 71 out of 1,343 hospitals in the Visayas have refiled their denied claims.
And in Mindanao, a total of 129 out of the 1,621 medical establishments have refiled their denied claims.
Last March 2025, PhilHealth announced that it will give a second chance to denied hospital claims due to late submission.
Allowed to be refiled are the denied hospital claims originally filed from January 1, 2018 to December 31, 2024.
Given the low number of refiled denied claims, PhilHealth is reminding health facilities anew of the September 21, 2025 deadline.
“All concerned facilities are encouraged to file covered claims within the stipulated period and to ensure payment of the subject claims,” it said.
“After six months from the effectivity of this PhilHealth circular, PhilHealth shall deny with finality all unprotested and unappealed claims covered by this policy,” added PhilHealth.
