People Against Corruption-Olongapo (PACO), a coalition of local civil society groups and residents, held a rally against government corruption at Rizal Triangle Park on Sunday, joining the nationwide Sept. 21 protests demanding accountability and transparency.
More than a hundred attendees gathered in the morning, where speakers called for greater transparency in public records and contracts, an end to nepotism and favoritism in government hiring, and the abolition of confidential funds.
The demonstration also included members of the Aeta indigenous communities, who raised concerns about ongoing abuses and encroachment on their ancestral lands.
The protest marks a growing mobilization in the city demanding accountability from government officials.
