THE Migrant Workers Office-Los Angeles (MWO-LA) has provided financial assistance to four Filipino workers who were among those affected by recent wildfires in southern California.

“One-time financial assistance was distributed to distressed OFWs (overseas Filipino workers), who were directly and adversely affected by the wildfires in Los Angeles,” said MWO-LA.

The MWO-LA said the financial aid was sourced from the Agarang Kalinga at Saklolo para sa mga OFW na Nangangailangan (AKSYON) Fund of the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW).

Under Department Order No. 05-2024, the one-time cash assistance provided to OFWs range from P50,000 to P100,000.

Since early January, the Los Angeles area has been hit by deadly and destructive wildfires spanning about 90 square miles. Over 200,000 have been forced to evacuate while at least 28 people have been killed.
