OPERATIVES of the PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrested a female New People’s Army (NPA) rebel in Bukidnon for alleged involvement in various crimes, among them destructive arson.

The suspect, identified only as “Lina,” an NPA leader, was arrested last Sunday in Barangay San Jose in Malaybalay City in Bukidnon.

The CIDG said the suspect was nabbed during a manhunt conducted with arrest warrants issued by the city courts of Cagayan de Oro and Malaybalay.

The warrants were issued for violation of Republic Act 9851 (Philippine Act on Crimes Against International Humanitarian Law, Genocide, and Other Crimes Against Humanity); destructive arson, attempted murder, frustrated murder; and qualified trafficking in persons.

The CIDG said the operation was conducted in coordination with other police units and the Army’s 4th Infantry Division.

“Lina is allegedly involved in armed activities within the hinterlands of San Fernando and the southwest portion of Cabanglasan, Bukidnon,” the CIDG said.

The CIDG added that Lina’s group is “part of a broader network within the Northern Central Mindanao Regional Command that conducts insurgent operations across Bukidnon and the Northern Mindanao region.”

She is listed as the No. 2 most wanted person in Northern Mindanao, the CIDG added.

CIDG director Maj. Gen. Robert Morico II said the arrest of Lina is a government victory in the fight against “terrorism, and we helped the victims attain the justice they deserved.”
