MALACAÑANG has declared April 1, Tuesday, as a regular non-working holiday throughout the country in observance of Eid’l Fitr, or the Feast of Ramadan.
Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, in a message to the media, confirmed the issuance of Proclamation No. 839 declaring the observance of the Muslim holiday on April 1.
The proclamation was signed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on March 20, that
The National Commission on Muslim Filipinos initially recommended that either March 31 or April 1 be declared as Eid’l Fitr.
“In order to bring the religious and cultural significance of the Eid’l Fitr to the fore of national consciousness, and to allow the entire Filipino nation to join their Muslim brothers and sisters in peace and harmony in the observance and celebration of Eid’l Fitr, it is necessary to declare 01 April 2025, Tuesday, a regular
holiday throughout the country,” the proclamation read.
A copy of the proclamation was uploaded by the Official Gazette yesterday.
Eid’l Fitr is one of two Muslim holidays that is observed as a regular holiday in the Philippines, with the other one being Eid’l Adha.
